Phoenix Fallen

Yesterday myself and the other two members of the band I'm a part of began recording our first EP at Resident Studios in North London. Here is a selection of pictures from the first two days of recording in which we managed to map out the songs and lay down the drums. Day 3 and 4 will see the rhythm and lead guitar completed as well as the bass. Vocals will most likely be recorded during the Christmas break

Instrumental tracks will be available to hear on our band's Myspace which should be up and running soon

Comeback Kid

2 months felt like 6 this time around. Yet another long break from graffiti was brought to an end this sunday when I met Ventz for a final wall before he moves abroad for the year. Painting alongside Deus and Ventz I got the kick I needed to push me back into the graffiti frame of mind.

Hopefully there will be more to come soon including me getting back into the routine of actually using my blog

Ascendancy

After finishing my exams on thursday I took a day to soak up the feeling of being totally free for 4 months and cracked on with some 'work' today

This is the first time I've painted in near on 2 months so I was bound to be rusty. There are parts I like and parts I don't as with anything I do. Overall I had a great day with Manik, Nase and Seud, despite the blistering heat, and the wall was looking nice when I left.

Venting

My Finals start on Tuesday so as you can imagine I'm feeling the pressure right now. Yesterday me and my younger brother, who has his GCSEs coming up (I'm very jealous), spent a few hours at our regular summer haunt releasing stress through football.

This summer is all about Football, Graffiti and getting our album recorded finally.. I can't wait.

For now though it's focus and if anyone catches me on Flickr/Facebook etc, don't hesitate to tell me I should be knee deep in Further Organic Chemistry or Spanish 18th Century Literature

Until May 20th

Awesome

I logged onto facebook earlier and in my mailbox had an unread piece of mail from my girlfriend entitled 'You'll like this.' A couple of hours later and I've managed to tear myself away from possibly the best thing I've ever seen on the Internet to share it on here.

I've been through around 200 of these so far from the mid 500s to the mid 700s and so far this is my favorite page;

http://1000awesomethings.com/page/2/

Page after page I am amazed at how I agree with literally every single one of these Awesome Things.

I have to say, she was 100% right, this is amazing!

Shamelessly stolen from Getnloose, one of the best blogs I've come across

This is too cool

Unfortunately the way my blog is set out, it cuts off the right quarter of the picture so go ahead and skip on over to youtube to check it out

If You're The Type..

Over the past few day's I've been working on some images a little different to my usual, swapping graffiti style letters for type.

Expect to see more of these styles in the months after I finish my finals, I find them a lot more interesing to do that normal letters, especially the top sketch as it took a few goes to figure out what went where and what colour each part was

Teen Wolf

I watched Teen Wolf for the first time the other day and have watched it another 2 times since. It's an amazing film so watch it!

'There are three rules that I live by;

Never get less than 12 hours sleep

Never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city

Never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body

Follow those rules and the rest is all cream cheese'

Great advice for life

My New Toy

It isn't often that I feel I need to publicly praise an animal, however having been playing around with my new Fisheye lense for the last couple of days I feel it's necessary to give a big thanks to the Fish for lending the nice people at Sigma lenses the Blueprints of its eye in order to make easily the most amusing piece of camera kit I've ever used.

That said, I'm sure anybody who regularly checks my Flickr, Myspace or this blog will grow to hate fisheye pictures as it's the only lense I have right now (I keep meaning to send my other 28x70mm lense for repair) so they really are my only option aside from borrowing professional lenses from my Mother

Anyway here are a few from around the house, taken as a respite from Revision which has become my life over the last few weeks

The Off Season

After painting again last week with Mer I am hooked again. Every now and then I become bored with graffiti and everything I seem to produce but my first paint in over a month has rejuvinated me. However, and this is a big however, with finals less than a month away I obviously can't spend a whole day painting so have been forced to make do with sketching..

Here are a couple of my favorite bits of work from the last month or so. The 2 bottom sketches are old ones as I'm keeping my new stuff super-secret for when I'm released from my exams (I'll be painting everyday until I die or run out of paint & money)

From Toy To King

I recently stumbled upon this video in my favorites after CK crewmember Darkone linked me to it a while back.

Some won't like it but I love it, especially the animation which is all hand drawn making it even more impressive

Rest In Peace Dare

Today's wall at Mile End with Mer was our way of paying tribute, to the legend that was Dare LL, TWS, almost a month after his death, who was a huge influence on me as I'm sure he was on countless other writers

In order to pay our respects we adopted Dare's famed white outline with internal grey shadow and I produced a sketch heavily influenced by Dare's work especially for this wall. Despite the brief but heavy shower half way through the wall which we battled through, the sun was shining and it was a great day.

Packs a Punch

This week I've been working with puns surrounding fruit and turning them into sketches

I'm not one to start a sketch in pen but have enjoyed the freedom of letting my pen marks wander while doing these, making intentionally messy marks. This is something I'll definitely be using again in the future
Hopefully some graffiti to follow soon, work permitting!

Sustenance

As I have been resigned to the sidelines in regards to painting of late, due to work, needless to say I have little to upload.
Therefore I thought I would keep things going with a few exchange sketches with a look to upload something new on the weekend
